Live videos are when an act are filmed and recorded performing live. This normally falls within two categories: at a gig or in a controlled environment. The first one is fairly self explanatory, we’ll turn up to a gig of your choosing and film/record it, capturing that energy you’re giving to the audience. Secondly is the controlled environment route. This is popular as you still play live, showcasing accurately what you do, but it has the added luxury of redoing tracks and choosing the perfect location. Each have their own unique advantages to which we’re happy to discuss with you.
Normally it’s down to the acts to arrange a space they feel suits them and are comfortable in. That being said we have access to a few spaces over both locations where we get preferential rates for acts struggling to find something suitable. We can of course arrange venue spaces our end working on the budget you have available. Ultimately we discuss what the best course of action is as every act is different!
Miming a video to pre recorded audio is always an option for a band on a budget, but for the best representation of your band high quality live audio is the way to go. Clients want to hear what you will sound like at their event, so with that live audio they’ll be captivated by that raw energy a studio record cannot recreate.
Simply put, low quality phone videos from a single, quite often compromised, angle will only be detrimental to your promotional efforts. The video quality will be ropey at best and the audio will be very poor. You spend a lot of time and effort to learn a great set to portray yourselves as a great act, so why sell yourselves short? This is true of any low quality video, even if mimed to studio recordings, it just screams cheap and nasty and clients will avoid you.
Just think of it as a cake, you have all the recorded elements there, the ingredients, but without mixing they will never turn into a finished product, the cake! The mastering process has many purposes, but in essence it takes the finished cake and brings it up a notch, the icing and decorations. It brings it up to a professional standard making it ready to be taken seriously in the industry.
